Being a Chaplain

I am blesed to have the awesome privilege to be a hospital chaplain. I have just finished reading some of the posting of some of the former patient families that I have met and visited. It is exciting to see the patients get better and get to go home. On the other side is difficult when the docs have done everything that they could and the patient dies (particularly the children). I know and live with the promise that God takes the kids to heaven and that I will see them when it is my time to go. I pray that the families can find some solace in the Word and in their faith. It is all that we have.

Weekend thoughts

I am watching an old John Wayne movie and was just thinking how far we have come from the values of those days.  If this movie had been made today their would have to had sex and much vulgarity so as to portray the real situation but I think it still better that our heros at least appear to be better than we are.  Somehow reality leaves us little hope for our being better.

The importance of People

I am discovering more and more that we are not really focusing on others as we should. I see more people turning in to introverts by spending more time on their games, TV, movies and computers and less time with relationships. It is so important that we continue to have relationships that are viable and growing. People are important and we must not close ourselves out by spending so much in a computer and games world.
